Julieann has always loved swallows and has been sketching them for years. Using mild steel wire in a scribbly fashion she has also been working directly from the swallows to create these lively sculptures. |

These 2, new, wire boxing hares are each around 5 feet long. They are on display in the first interior courtyard beyond the main hospital entrance. |

Julieann participated in the Rabley Contemporary Drawing Centre summer experimental drawing workshop to try out some new ideas. Whilst there she became transfixed by a family of swallows swooping to drink from puddles and catching flies for their young. Graphite on brown paper. 2m x 1.75m. Held in a private collection. This large drawing was made during Julieann's year as artist in residence to Wiltshire Education Authority in 1992/3 as a development of work she was doing in primary schools with shadow puppetry and her interest in the religious tryptich and African art and dance.
