Julieann has always loved swallows and has been sketching them for years. Using mild steel wire in a scribbly fashion she has also been working directly from the swallows to create these lively sculptures. |

Julieann participated in the Rabley Contemporary Drawing Centre summer experimental drawing workshop to try out some new ideas. Whilst there she became transfixed by a family of swallows swooping to drink from puddles and catching flies for their young. This large drawing was made during Julieann's year as artist in residence to Wiltshire Education Authority in 1992/3 as a development of work she was doing in primary schools with shadow puppetry and her interest in the religious tryptich and African art and dance.
